What is the Difference between the Harris Pontoon and the Bennington Pontoon?

The 2012 Sea-Doo Switch rents for morning, half day, and full day (8.5 hours)rentals. Guests cannot take this boat outside Lake Monona on their own unless they rent a captain. The boat seats 9 passengers. More maneuverable and more horsepower than typical pontoons because of their unique jet drive system.

The 2021 Bennington tritoon rents for three three hour sessions a day (morning, afternoon, or evening) or a full day plus rental (11 hours). Guests cannot take this boat outside Lake Monona on their own unless they rent a captain. The boat seats 11 passengers. See pricing/availability.


Where do I meet?What do you provide?

Meet us at the Law Park boat launch with kayak storage in between the Monona Terrace and Machinery Row. (It is on Lake Monona). The address is 410 S Blair St, Madison, WI. On weekdays we recommend you drop off one of your party at Law Park with your gear and then park at the Monona Terrace parking ramp. On weekends, parking is free in the Law Park parking lot. Arrive 15 minutes early for an orientation to the boat. Guests staying with us at the Capital Lake House will just meet down at our private dock. We provide personal flotation devices for up to 11 people. We also include a cooler, a floating mat, and a blue tooth connectable music system. Please do not bring pets on the boat. Unfortunately we have found they can cause damage that is hard to repair.


What is your cancellation policy?

Rentals must be canceled 14 days prior to the rental date to receive a full refund. If cancellation is made within the 14 day period there is no refund unless the boat is re-rented by another party. Then a refund will be issued. To cancel, email at capitallakepontoons@gmail.com. If there are severe weather conditions in the area prior to rental time, then we will contact you to give you the option to push the rental to another day during the 2021 rental season or refund you if rescheduling is not possible. Severe weather conditions include: Tornado, Tornado Warning/Watch, Thunderstorm, Thunderstorm Watch/Warning, Flash Flood, Flash Flood Watch/Warning, Hail, Extreme Winds, and Lightning. Cloudy days, colder/warmer than normal temperatures, and light rain are not considered severe weather conditions.


What are the requirements to drive a pontoon?

To rent and drive the boat, you must be over 18 years old and have a current valid driver’s license. If you were born after 1/1/1989, you are required to complete a 25-question online boater safety exam ($11) and send us documentation of completion.


Is a security deposit required?

Any damages to the boat will be billed to the credit card on file that was used to purchase the boat rental. We do not provide insurance.


Can we Pull people behind the boat?

No. At this time we do not have an insurance policy that covers any water sports with boat. There is also no tow bar for a rope.


What is the pontoon capacity?

11 people total Bennington. 10 people total Sea-Doo Switch.


Can we have someone else drive Us?

Absolutely. We would be happy to drive you. The rate for a captain is $37 / hour. Captains are required if you will take the boat off Lake Monona.


Will you provide us an orientation to the boat?

Yes. Please show up 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to receive an orientation.
